About Us

Anam Cara was established in 2003, and has developed 'organically' with a range of buildings and landscaping initiatives. The evolving physical features of the centre mirrors the changing emphasis of the training programmes on offer, which in turn reflects the maturing interests of the Anam Cara team, who seek to develop the centre as a way of life as opposed to a business.

Anam Cara sits 600 feet above sea level and overlooks the city of Inverness with stunning southerly views over the Monadhlaith Mountains. The centre is surrounded by woodland and lies close to the final northern stretches of the Great Glen Way. The locality offers an extensive network of paths meandering through a variety of habitat with a rich and varied wildlife.

The centre is set in seven acres of land also with its own modest set of pathways which weave through a recently planted woodland. The creation of 'Wee Nooks' has become a feature… there to be discovered!!

The Anam Cara community comprises six permanent members with a changeable number of long and short-term volunteers, all of whom are accommodated on site.

The Anam Cara Community look forward to welcoming you.
